Captain's Log: December 30, 2024
Today was one for the books as we departed from Dudley’s Marina at the bright and early hour of 8 AM. The sun was shining, and the temperature lingered around a pleasant 70 degrees – a perfect day for a fishing adventure on the southern waters!
Our first destination took us to some intriguing black bottom marshes, known for holding warmer water. As we arrived, the anticipation was palpable, and it didn’t take long for our lines to start dancing. The red drum were in fine form today, providing thrills and excitement as we reeled them in. It’s always a pleasure to see the smiles on our guests' faces as they battle these feisty fish!
Alongside the red drum, we also encountered a variety of other species. Speckled and gray trout made their appearances, showcasing the diverse ecosystem we’re lucky to fish in. We caught some pinfish, which, while not our target species, added to the day’s excitement. And let’s not forget the black sea bass that we encountered – these beauties never disappoint!
In keeping with our commitment to conservation, we released everything we caught today, except for one impressive sheepshead. Our guests opted to keep that one for a delicious dinner, and I can’t blame them – sheepshead are known for their incredible flavor!
As we navigated the waters, the vibrant scenery around us served as a reminder of why we love what we do. The tranquility of the marshes, the gentle lapping of the waves, and the thrill of the catch all blended into a perfect day on the water.
As we made our way back to the marina, the sun began to dip low in the sky, painting the horizon with hues of orange and pink. It was a beautiful end to a successful day of fishing, and I couldn’t have asked for better company on board.
Thank you to all our guests for joining us today! Your enthusiasm and camaraderie made this trip even more memorable. Until next time, tight lines and calm seas!
Tight Lines,
John & Martin
